"I've moved aside, but you're not taking la nenita with you. I'm unarmed, and you have my word that if you release her, we will let you leave and not pursue you--though you can always trust your weapons as well if my word is not good enough. ... You aren't a stupid person. You know as well as I that if la nenita dies, it will be impossible for you to leave this room alive. And I don't think you'll have much luck finding the Sword if you're dead."
The woman smiled faintly to herself. Sure, she would have to settle for a minor setback with the loss of some information, but she had gotten the giant to move aside. That, in and of itself, was enough to call this a victory, especially against an adversary of his size.
She could easily find out what she knew from other sources, anyway.
"You think you know what I'm after, gigante*?" she laughed, slowly loosening the whip's coils. "You know nothing."
She removed the end of the hook that had embedded itself into Scarlette's neck with a particularly cruel flourish, and blood began to gush from the wound. She wiped the crimson-stained metal on the unconscious woman's clothes; then, she finished coiling her weapon around itself and set it on her hip, before calmly walking out into the hall.
"I'll be seeing you and la nenita again, gigante," she purred, her voice dripping with barely-contained hatred as she turned to glance at Doran out of one blindfolded eye. "This isn't the last you'll know of Isabella de la Cruz."
Her lips curled into a twisted smirk, and she soundlessly slinked away from the group to leave the tavern. She was toeing the line between the waking world and unconsciousness when felt the stranglehold on her neck loosen, and life-giving air rushed back into her lungs.
Scarlette couldn't make out the exchange between Doran and Isabella, but she knew that she wasn't being choked -- and that the sharp hook was now freed from her skin, tearing a particularly nasty gash open as she fell to her knees.
She felt the warmth of her lifeblood streaming steadily down the side of her neck, and she reached up to put pressure on the wound; all the while, she was coughing violently, and completely clueless about why she was, miraculously, not dead.
She lifted her head to look at Doran, and a faint, apologetic smile tugged at her lips. He might not have liked her, but hell if she didn't owe him her life right now.
"D... Danke," she gasped out, shakily rising to one knee.---------- *Gigante: Spanish for "Giant". Isabella's got nicknames for EVERYONE!

Doran took another step back as the woman neared the door, keeping Ede safely behind him. He did not flinch from her cutting gaze, but as soon as she was heading down the stairs and out of view, he released the breath he had been holding. As poorly as that had gone, it really couldn't have gone any better.
He didn't return Scarlette's smile, instead pulling her all the way to her feet and sitting her on the side of the bed. He grabbed a large piece of spare cloth that he kept in his traveling pack and tore a fair strip off, handing it to Rayne and pointing to the washbasin.
"Clean her wound and then tie this around her neck to deal with the bleeding. Ede and I will be back shortly. We depart tonight."

Ede peered around Doran as the mysterious woman strutted by. She could hear coughing from within the doorway, and shot the woman a glare, though with the blindfold, she wondered if the woman could really see.
Inside the room, Ede was greeted by the sight of Scarlette holding a considerably-bloody neck. Exchanges were still in German, so she remained clueless. Doran shuffled her back to her room, where he had her gather her things. She gave him a puzzled look, but obeyed. Were they changing inns or leaving the city? She hoped they weren't setting off already--aside from being tired, she'd hoped to buy more practical clothes and a bedroll for odd trips such as these.
Once she had her belongings (which fit into one bag), Ede gave Doran a nod that signified she was ready to follow.

Rayne watched everything unfold, but she wanted nothing more than to attack this woman straight on. However, she too stepped back when Doran did to allow the blindfolded woman to leave.
"Clean her wound and then tie this around her neck to deal with the bleeding. Ede and I will be back shortly. We depart tonight."
Rayne did as she was told and took the cloth and washed away the blood. She too had some extra cloth in her belt. She folded up the wet cloth and put it on the wound and forced Scarlette's hand to hold it.
"Hold that there."
As Scarlette was keeping pressure Rayne grabbed a plate on a nearby stand and placed a large leaf, that she had rolled up in a pouch, onto it. With the handle of her dagger she began crushing the leaf into a paste.
It wasn't as perfect as she could make it, but it would have to do with the tools that she had available.
"This is sage. It's going to help clean the cut and prevent it from getting infected. Something my mother taught me."
She moved her hand and gently rubbed the green paste over the cut. Finally with a fresh piece of fabric she tied a makeshift bandage around Scarlete's neck.
"There good as new."

The sage paste stung her wound, and Scarlette bit back another hiss. Still, having an uninfected wound was worth a bit of discomfort.
Once the bandage was around her neck, she nodded her head in thanks, then stood up to retrieve her armor.
Once she had put it all back on, she tied her hair up once more, then securely fastened her rapier (still nestled in its scabbard) onto her belt, and headed to the door.
"Traveling with you will only bring danger," she spoke with disdain in her words. Though she was primarily addressing Rayne, her voice carried enough that Ede could easily hear her.
"And, from what little I understood, my wellbeing is a... secondary concern. It would be better for all of us if I went on a different path than the rest of you."

Doran and Ede returned quickly, just as Scarlette was getting up to leave. Naturally, he couldn't understand her, but his bulk blocked the doorway, so she wouldn't be going anywhere for the moment.
"Rayne, where were you staying tonight? I'd prefer to leave the city and travel until morning, but I don't think that would be healthy for Scarlette."

"It would be better for all of us if I went on a different path than the rest of you."
Ede shook her head.
"Of course your well being is a concern." She wondered why she would think otherwise. Had one of the other two said something?
"You cannot be traveling alone right now. Is this the ambush person you told me about?" She'd thought Scarlette had said that person was no longer around. What were the chances some new person would come looking for her?
While the party sorted out their plan, a loud thump thump could be heard as someone climbed the stairs. The owner, having been alerted by customers one floor down of some awful noise, had come to investigate. He was short, but made up for this with a hefty weight. He was probably as close to a dwarf in appearance as a human could be. He wasn't much surprised to see the giant (who's oversized hammer he'd demanded be left in he bedroom) and the young maiden of questionable age present at the scene of the ruckus. As he topped the steps and advanced down the hall, he could see the bare doorway with bits of splintered wood strewn about. His face turned a deep red in instant anger, but he couldn't quite sputter out his accusations just yet.

"You cannot be traveling alone right now. Is this the ambush person you told me about?"
Scarlette shook her head.
"The one who attacked me was male. And they were armed with an axe, not a whip," she replied simply. "This was someone new."
Just her luck. Two separate attacks for her information. At least that woman hadn't gotten anything out of her.
"She'll likely come after me again when she gets the chance." She rubbed the bandage lightly, and her lips thinned into a stern line. "Just let me go on my own. There's no point in getting you involved."

Rayne was focused with getting her things in order until she heard her name.
"Rayne, where were you staying tonight? I'd prefer to leave the city and travel until morning, but I don't think that would be healthy for Scarlette."
Rayne shook her head at Doran.
"Where I'm staying won't be any good for her to rest, nor is it any place for anyone to stay. Give me 20 minutes after we leave here and I can get us a horse with cart."
Rayne pulled the cloak back onto her back and lifted the hood up right as she heard the newest arrival coming up the stairs.

While the other girls spoke together, Doran considered Rayne's offer. He doubted she planned on purchasing said horse and cart--something he was not altogether comfortable with. Still, Ede's safety was paramount, and they were unlikely to find anyone interested in haggling for their horse at this hour.
"Very well, but I'd rather not wait here. We should--"
He was interrupted by the innkeeper's arrival, the minute man almost foaming at the mouth as he attempted to spit out words from a tomato-hued face. Doran wasn't in the mood for this.
"Something wrong?" He wasn't trying to sound threatening, but the exasperation in his baritone voice was apparent.
