(I apologize for the unforgivable wait I've put you all through. There have been some very stress-inducing things going on at my job (one of which caused a severe near-breakdown), so my mind has not been in the right frame for RPing.
BUT I'M BACK NOW. Or at least, I hope. ;_; I'm so sorry!
Also, for the sake of speeding things along, there's going to be a minor time-skip near the end of my post.)
Katrin was waiting for Ede to finish with the horse, and for Rayne to be done with her stock-taking. She rocked on the balls of her feet, then spoke up quietly.
"I don't mean to sound impatient, but... we'd best hurry, if we're going to get some shopping done before sunset." Her voice was laced with excitement; she hadn't been to another town in a while, and she was eager to see the sights.
Of course, she didn't have to wait much longer; Rayne managed to finish counting up her things just as Ede managed to get the horse separated from the cart, and the three of them set off toward the town.
"Do you think, while we're there, we can find a smith of some sort? Or at least a leather-worker?" Her voice was cheerful as they traveled, a youthful energy ringing through her words.
As the three young ladies began down the road, Scarlette looked around at the farms within distance of herself and Doran.
We can't waste much time. The sooner we find a place the stay, the sooner we can get going again.
It was then that she noticed that Doran had started on without her, toward the closest patch of farmland; it was almost as though he shared her train of thought.
The owner of that particular farmhouse was more than willing to have the two of them help with his workload; though, by the sound of his voice, he didn't seem all that keen on having Scarlette working at all.
She didn't catch all of what he said, but she had a strong feeling it was related to how she looked at that current moment -- after all, what use would someone as tired-looking as her be?
The red-head didn't give him much of a say in the matter, however. Once Doran set to work on cutting firewood, she silently began to clean the stables and feed the livestock, much to the disapproval of the farmer.
She could see him peering in from time to time, making sure she hadn't collapsed; each time, she would give him a small smile and a faint nod of her head.
---
The sun was quite a bit lower by the time Scarlette finished the last of her duties. With a sigh, she made her way to the house, spotting Doran as he stepped outside.
Wordlessly, she pointed toward the road, silently inquiring if they would be heading back toward their designated meeting place.
Ede and the others would surely be returning soon, after all.
