Unaliari smacked her forehead, though in such a way as to keep the noise of the slap to a minimum. Mio's flailing and diving was far from being missed. At least the bats didn't seem to mind the spastic movements. In fact, some of their chirping afterwards might have been interpreted as laughter, if one took a moment to listen.
Somehow, the four managed to reach the entrance to the next room without any other troubles. This new room stood out from the rest of the cave. It looked more like a castle vault or temple hallway, with carved pillars and statues and smoothed stone floor. The rest of the cave had been just that: a cave with some simple human stone-workings littered about. At the far end of the room was another door that, at first glance from the other side of the room, looked to lead back into the dim tunnels of the cave. The room itself was well lit with torches scattered about, most out of even jumping reach.
Eight soldier-statues lined the direct path through the room, leaving enough space for the entire party to walk in a single side-by-side line between them. They faced inwards, such that they'd be looking down on those who traveled by. The statues did not look to be uniformly equipped, though it would be hard to tell all the differences until one approached them. Their weapons and armor had varying qualities -- of the closest two statues, the one on the left had a shiny axe with a blue handle. The rest of its equipment was dull and looked to be crafted of stone. The axe alone looked to be removable. The statue on the right had shinier boots with reflective blue gems set in each one. It didn't seem as though the legs of the soldier extended completely into the boots and that the statue was kept upright by having the stone cape extend into the pedestal solidly. This most likely made the boots removable like the axe.
The room was quiet, save for the crackling of the torches and a slow, methodic drip of water from some unseen source. Unaliari looked around Rio to the floor in front of the entrance, trying to pick out any obvious traps.

Mio gladly left the bats behind, and hoped that the bats were content to be left behind. Regardless, her trepidation subsided a bit when she saw the new room. Now this finally looked like something different and exciting!
Mio skipped ahead of the others to one of the closest statues: the one with the axe (personal bias was certainly showing through here). Since it looked removable, she reached out to do just that, but then stopped herself just before she touched it. Remembering the reprimands she had received for her impulsiveness already, she brought her hands back to her side, and turned around with a grin of total innocence.
"Well, no need to be hasty, of course! Let's have a nice, slow look around."

Rio's jaw dropped and he stopped breathing as watched Mio reach for the axe.
"Well, no need to be hasty, of course! Let's have a nice, slow look around."
Rio gasped for air. Good she's not that dumb.
"Mio I'd appreciate it if you didn't get us killed.
With his katana drawn he began to inspect each of the statues starting with the closest and working his way down. If nothing bad were to happen he'd move on to the next one.

Had she not stayed back out of wariness, Unaliari most definitely would have tackled Mio down long before she'd been within reach of the statue. In an amazing turn of events, Mio was able to conquer her curiosity. Unaliari breathed a sigh of relief.
Unaliari opted to follow Rio, only as far as the first set of statues. She let him go ahead to prod at each of them in succession. There were no visible switches in the statues. Nothing really looked out of place. The only things that stood out were the different removable pieces of equipment.
The items he saw were as follows ((sorry it's in the opposite of the order Rio approached...)): 1. Gloves -- Leather with small sheets of silvery-metal reinforcing the fingers. A small blue orb was seated in each. 2. Cape -- Gray material on the outside, navy blue on the inside. The clasp was a similar silver with a blue gem on it. 3. Dagger -- See below. 4. Bow/Arrow set -- 25 arrows within a sturdy leather quiver. 5. Breast plate -- A piece that covers the upper body fully. The gem is set in the middle of the chest. 6. Sword -- See below. 7. Axe -- See below. 8. Boots -- Leather extending beyond the ankles. Metal reinforcement around the actual foot. Gems set on the top-middle of the foot.
The weapons all looked to be constructed of the same material. Hilts and grips were of the same deep sea blue. The metallic portions were flawlessly constructed with not a hint of wear. The statues had a set of sorts divided up amongst them...or so it seemed.

Honorea was about to dash ahead and grab Mio, but thankfully Mio had stopped herself. She watched Rio carefully, worried more about what might happen as he prodded more than if something was alive in the room. She knew enough due to her Elvish senses that they were relatively safe from predators in the room, although she listened very carefully for noises that were hollow, or might lead to something unseen by the human eye.
She dutifully swept the room with her vision resting on the bow and arrow set.
"Well. Now that would be fun to add to my collection. It seems a bit strange to me that there is something here for each one of us, plus some. I wonder if that is coincidence or if this was set up as a trap, no matter who walked through this doorway?"

Mio paced around as Rio and Honorea made their painfully slow sweep of the room.
"I don't think this stuff is here specifically for us, really. I mean, when you're putting together a variety of weapons, an axe, a bow, daggers... these aren't exactly strange items to come up with."
She continued when Rio had finally inspected each statue. "Anyways, the color blue obviously had some significance to the crafter, and might be important here too. Other than that, maybe putting all of the equipment on one statue would do something. Though I guess the one wearing the boots now is the only one that could..."
She growled in frustration. Carefully thought-out strategies were not her strong suit. "Anyways, we're not going to get anywhere if we don't do something. And since Rio would probably faint if he so much as stepped on a crack in the floor at this point, I volunteer."

"Faint?! I think that my caution will do a lot better than your hastiness. But fine we'll play it your way."
Rio reached up and grabbed the sword from the second statue on the right. Assuming nothing would stop him he would pull the blade free.

Unaliari couldn't believe what had just unfolded before her. She could have slapped Mio and Rio both, had she not been preparing to bolt for the exit. And yet...nothing visible changed after Rio removed the sword. The blade pulled free with ease and rested comfortably in his hand. Despite the glossy look of the blue hilt, it had a decent grip.
"Now what?"

Mio was shocked at Rio's reaction to her teasing. At least, as shocked as she could be when she was doubled over with gleeful laughter. Having a co-conspirator of chaos was loads of fun. And if Rio was this easy to provoke, Mio planned on having all kinds of laughs at his expense in the future.
"Now what?"
Mio grinned broadly at Unaliari. "Free loot, of course!"
Heading toward the (conveniently) nearest statue, she yanked the axe free without hesitation.

Honorea's heart almost stopped as she watched the scene unfold in front of her. She couldn't believe Rio had been so easily egged on by Mio. She watched as Mio smiled at his actions and then proceeded to take the axe for herself. Honorea was much to cautious to let her guard down just yet. She kept her senses on high alert, listening for even the faintest shift of rock and metal around them.
She didn't dare move, yet. Instead she looked toward Unaliari to see what her move would be, figuring if she also ventured into the room to take something, then perhaps there was no danger to be found in this room after all.
