Blu was completely taken aback. He had hoped for some reaction to his words, and expected resistance. He returned Oukan's embrace, but used the moment to imprint something of a precaution onto the boy.
Before Blu could decide whether Oukan was sincere or not, ten claws punctured his back, giving him his answer. Blu shoved off of Oukan, stumbling back and falling to the ground. A number of kanji glowed around his back, staunching the blood loss and tissue necrosis for now. The crimson fluid instead jettisoned from his mouth as he coughed.
"Heh... surprise tactics. That must be from your mother's side."
He needed to get back to the portals--he had left Elieana on standby back in their time in case of such an event. Whether by accident or just wanting the mage to suffer, Oukan hadn't severed Blu's spinal cord, but a lung and kidney were punctured. He wouldn't last for too long, and dying was a bit more serious these days--he didn't have a friend running the show down there any more. Unfortunately, he couldn't fade his way to the portals--there was no way his body would hold up to the Immaterial Realm in this condition.
All Blu could do at this point was lie on the ground and initiate his failsafe (though, his plan having failed, he was anything but safe). Three identical kanji emerged from where they had been magically imprinted on Oukan's back. They read 'paralyze,' an old standby from Blu's ofuda days. Since he had left his demonic form behind in order to catch Blu off guard, Oukan would be hard-pressed to deal with these kanji. Hopefully that would give Dota all the opening that she needed.
------------------------------------------------
Of course, it had slipped Blu's mind that there was another opponent for Oukan besides Dota--and as soon as she saw her father go down, she was rushing towards the scene with a shout of both fury and grief. She reached Oukan just as the paralyze kanji took effect. Having been taught to read the symbols, she knew that Oukan was not likely to dodge, and even in her state she had enough presence of mind not to outright kill him--but she was damned if he would be moving again anytime soon.
She swung at him with her battleaxe full-force horizontally, so that the flat of the huge axehead would impact him from the knees to his head. At the same time, a full gale-force wind shear shot into him from the opposite direction. If everything connected as intended, it would be like being crushed between her axe and a brick wall.

"He puts on a show talking back, yet look at him obey you like a trained puppy."
Normally, Blu would have bantered back and forth with someone who taunted him like that, but at this point, his mood was quite soured. Feh, whatever... some minor demoness like that. I give her five minutes against Trunks, if she's lucky.
Latching on the final wristpiece, the armor was complete. Blu looked over himself. Yep... I definitely look ridiculous. Regardless, this was no time to worry about appearances. He stepped up to Ayame's prison.
Oddly enough, though composed of flame, it appeared semi-solid. Armor or not, Blu could still feel the intense heat pouring from it--he sincerely hoped Ayame was still even alive in there (if the intention had been to kill her, he told himself, the demoness wouldn't have used a cage). Still, Blu really wasn't sure about this whole idea. He looked down at his hands, then settled on the left--that one was a bit less important. He extended that hand's pinkie finger (he had no intention of rushing this). As slowly and as lightly as he could, he poked it into the outer flame, bracing himself for the pain of being reduced to nine fingers (and he, of all people, knew what it felt like to lose fingers).

Dota slowly lifted her eyes as she felt the demonic resistance fade away from within her ice cage. Oukan had reverted back to his original form and was clinging to Blu at the sudden explosion from the crevice, which was enough to draw her attention away for a moment.
“I know that’s him please help me. I don’t know what to do.”
Dota looked back just in time to see the child tear open Blu's back. Just as the mage shoved away Oukan Dota leapt into motion, using her wings to reach him in a single, time-conserving bound. On her way over, she swept an arm through the air horizontally in front of her, shattering her old ice prison. Without pausing, her other arm shot up in a perpendicular second swing, which cued a second wall (this one had a single side only) between Blu and Oukan. Shards of the shattered wall fed into this one, making it more durable faster. A few may have flown through Oukan's path, but they were of little consequence in their dust-like form. This wall was different in build than the previous -- it was only one side, though the edges curled in towards Blu to give a streamline structure; it had sprouted out of the ground, giving it a few feet of anchorage in the earth; the main side lacked a glassy, even surface on the outside. The chunks of ice that jutted out were meant to localize any cracks from projectiles or stray blasts.
Dota had reached Blu and was inspecting the extent of his wounds before the wall had reached one hundred percent completion. Though the ice in its uneven thickness would seem nearly impossible to see through, Dota could look through as though it was glass (an ability unique to her grey-eyed persona). She noticed that Mio had also jumped into action. The ice goddess realized it was already too late to interfere -- Mio's axe was en route.

The demon girl dove down to reclaim her lost weapon just as Trunks leapt over her. She rolled upright, twirling the blade around once before stabbing it straight into her own fiery blast. The flames parted around the end of the longest point, expanding as they climbed up the length of the blade. The tail of the blast was narrowed in the process, becoming the new front of the blast. The demoness straightened up fully while the fires reformed and stabilized around her blade, spinning faster than before. She twirled around fluidly, crossing her weapons so that the flames could switch over. As she spun to face Trunks, she drew back her arm, then stabbed straight at him -- the burning drill shot ahead at him, but the base remained orbitting the girl's weapon.

Oukan was quickly pushed off his uncle and landed on his backside. He immediately stood up and looked at his right hand. His tongue had just reached the claw on his index finger when the paralyze kanji reached him. When the ice shattered and Dota leapt forward he feared the worst. Even though his body was frozen his mind was still racing. A circle of flames rose out of the ground and began to create a shell around him.
Just like Blu, he too had forgotten about his annoying cousin. The fire shell came a little too late. The axe and wind still sandwiched him but was considerably weakened (more like her axe and a wall of water). Oukan fell to the ground as the shell shattered and fell to the earth. The boy was in agony but laid there as if he was unconscious waiting for Mio to make her next mistake.

This girl was better than he planned. That on top of the fact that Trunks hadn’t been demon hunting in awhile made this fight a lot harder than it should have been. When her own attack didn’t smash into her the saiyan prince immediately stabbed his winged sword into the ground in front of him. The wings spread out just as the flames reached the sword. With all the strength he had Trunks pushed against the sword trying to fight back the attack. As the attack continued Trunks and the sword were being pushed back. A long gouge marked where he originally placed the sword to where he was now. The skin on his left arm that was holding up the sword was severely burned from the flames that the sword could not block. As he screamed out in pain he stabbed his other sword into the ground as well. With a little help from some magic the blade shot out of the ground underneath where the demon girl stood. With any luck she wouldn’t be walking for some time.

Blu was certainly grateful for Dota's protection.
"If we get a chance, a little help heading back to the portals would be much appreciated."
From behind the wall, he saw his daughter rush in toward Oukan, but his view of what actually transpired was obscured--but it certainly didn't sound pretty. He prayed that Mio had not acted too rashly.
------------------------------------------------
The second Oukan was down, he left Mio's mind completely. She could think of only one thing as she turned her back on the fallen boy and started to rush around the ice wall in order to reach her father.

...Blu's finger was unharmed (as well as the rest of his hand--he had known full well that his pinkie would not have been the only victim in the worst-case scenario). His relief at this was immense. And yet still, what he had to do next was not exactly easy to accept.
Taking a deep breath (completely pointless, yet the action seemed appropriate), Blu stepped forward and then leaned into the cage, forcing his head and upper body completely through the wall. The sensation was strange, and not very easy to describe. He could feel every bit of the heat, as if he wasn't wearing Trunks' armor, and yet it didn't hurt him at all. Regardless, it was rather discomforting.
Thankfully, inside the fiery egg was hollow (and the lighting effect was quite surreal). Blu found himself face-to-face with Ayame, who was suspended inside the prison by shackles on her wrists and ankles. She didn't seem entirely conscious, which threw Blu's first plan straight into the fire. Plan B would have to suffice.
First, a test was in order. Blu backed completely out of the cage. A large, open gap was left in the wall where he had been, its edges flaming like an actual fire rather than the semi-solid magma-ish stuff that composed the main body. After little more than a second, the edges of the wall crept inward, closing the hole and reforming the solid egg shape. Plan B it was.
"Well, this isn't going to be gentle..."

"If we get a chance, a little help heading back to the portals would be much appreciated."
"To the portals?"
Dota blinked. It looked like Blu was exiting the fight...a wise decision when she considered his current status.
"Well...there's not going to be any easy way of getting you there."
While Dota might have handled the weight of the mage, her frame was still small -- his larger size would be too awkward for her to balance properly in her arms without agitating his wounds.
For now, the protective barrier stayed in place, just in case. She'd help roll Blu onto whichever side he preferred, keeping in mind to be as gentle (but quick) as possible so as to keep the magical scabs working. She then stood, hands strained as she manipulated her next frozen creation beneath both Blu and the surface of the ground. She laid a stretcher of ice below him, but in order to keep him comfortable, she kept a chunk of turf between the two. A rectangle of ice outlined Blu, effectively cutting off the rest of the ground from his portion. The ice goddess lifted her hands slowly, guiding the shallow pan of ice out of the ground. It was surprisingly stable.
"Ready?"
It would take much of her concentration to navigate this properly, but she figured it would be better not to mention this weakness to her passenger.

The demon girl grit her teeth, leaning in to add the force needed to push Trunks and his winged sword back. She was just beginning to withdraw her attack when Trunks stabbed his other weapon into the ground. The demoness didn't consider the possible surprise attack and was late in moving out of its path. She went to fall back, but it still succeeded in piercing the back of her leg through the muscle and into the femur. Her cry of pain was sincere, but she managed to keep from collapsing. She instead fell into a back walkover that first kicked her leg free from the blade impaling it, then gained her some distance from both Trunks and the sword. When she had landed upright, she stood surprisingly on both legs. She rubbed the area that had been torn open. Although there was blood running down her leg, if anyone behind her had looked, the break in the skin was gone. Her arms were lowered to her sides, twin sai-swords gripped tight in both hands. Remnants of the fire lingered, spontaneous flames sparking to life and leaping about the prongs. She studied Trunks warily, noting his arm.
