Blu grunted. "A few. But I'll warn you, they're all bad ones."
They also involved getting close to the creature. Doubtlessly, whoever or whatever spawned this creature, deliberately created it in the form of one of any planet's slowest creatures, for the sheer purpose of surprising foolish kanji mages when it turned out to actually be terribly quick. Blu had already seen its tail move quite fast enough for him.
Oh well... you never got anywhere without trying. You often got to the afterlife by trying, but he was going to ignore that fact for now. Four of the unused kanji he had created for Trunks' short-lived plan still hadn't dried (the one on his back had been matted up by his robe), so he rubbed the ones on his legs on a finger to collect the blood. This became two kanji, one on each shoe.
Blu calmly walked around the snake pit, back into the cave room, and bent to pick one of the reflective scales off of the floor. Standing straight again, he spoke the kanji: "Shift, sprint, strength!" His boots glowed briefly blue, as well as the two on his arm, and then the mage burst forward, a blurry afterimage following him the whole way. He reached the mirror-beast's head in less than a second, and then jammed the sharp end of the scale downward at the unmirrored face, just between the eyes, with kanji-increased strength that would be nearly that of a (non super-) saiyajin.

The scales upon the face did not share the same reflective/absortive abilities. They were still protective and resisted the mage's strike. Had he done it with normal strenght, the scale would have bounced off...but his kanji allowed him to drive the scale in about halfway before halting.
The beast reared again, slashing the air around the mage with its clawed forelimbs and exposing a generally plain, unscaled and soft (relatively speaking) underside before crashing back down to the floor due to its unbalanced short hindlegs. It flung its horned head about, trying to gore the mage if he dared to stay around this long after.

Blu allowed himself a glimmer of hope as he felt the scale begin to pierce skin, but he quickly saw his fatal error. With his increased skin strength, the scale edge had not cut him, and he therefore didn't pay it much thought. But as soon as the scale met the resistance of the creature's bone, it pressed backward with equal force, and even Blu's kanji-influenced bone could not compete with the beast's skull. In an agonizing, slow-motion second, Blu watched his hand go through the scale, four of his fingers and half of his right palm cleanly removed from his body (his thumb was unharmed).
The kanji mage dropped to one knee, only half-containing a scream of pain, and clamped the hand within his robe. He could not react fast enough to the raging beast, and his left shoulder was hit hard with the side of the horns (luckily, at least in comparison to the points) in a sideways swipe if its head.
Blu was tossed several feet away, almost reaching the snake pit, and lay face down, unmoving, his severed hand bleeding liberally.

Ayame watched Blu take off at amazing speed towards the monster. For a moment, she thought he would deliver a successful strike...and he had somewhat. At least she and Trunks could note from afar what the underside of the beast looked like (any other time it sat too low to the ground).
Unfortunately, further action would have to wait. She had seen the blood and something she could guess was part of Blu's body. It was over before she could react -- before she knew it, Blu was at their feet and not looking so well. It was a bad day to leave her Restore materia behind.
The skirt hanging from her waist was expendable -- she was not naked underneath as her main outfit was a full body piece. Being the first thing she could think of, Ayame tore the fabric away. She rolled Blu over onto his back and began to tie the cloth tight around the severed hand. Even as she completed the knot, she continued to hold his hand in the air to make use of gravity to combat the flow of blood.
She looked at Trunks to see if he could offer any kind of assistence.

Trunks looked back down at Ayame.
"All I've got is blood. If he can use my blood to regenerate then he can have all he needs but other than that I lost all of my healing ablities."
Trunks looked back and noticed Blu's missing hand. He may need that. With a speed unmatched by any human Trunks ran forward grabbing Blu's fingers. He returned and placed them beside Ayame.
"Freeze those. I have to go take care of something."
Trunks turned slowly to face the beast.
"Now I'm really pissed off."
Blue electricty began circling the saiyan. This time without an aura his purple hair changed to gold. His muscles tensed and then grew to twice their normal size. Trunks lost speed but gained an exponential amount of power.

Blu hadn't fallen completely unconscious, though his awareness of the waking world hadn't been much better than if he was. He began to become more aware of himself and his surroundings, and wondered what he was doing on the floor, on his back. The shearing pain in his right hand and left arm obligingly reminded him.
Blu looked to the cloth over his severed hand, and to Ayame. "Thank you." It was all he had time for at the moment--the blood had been slightly slowed by the cloth, but not enough.
Blu reached with his left hand for his robe, but stopped with a curse. His humerus was definitely broken. Using more care this time, Blu pulled a vial from his robe--it contained a viscous, yellowish liquid. Snapping the vial in half (his enchanted vials were designed not to splinter unless shattered), he poured the contents onto the blood-soaked cloth. He traced it into a kanji, and rather than mix with the blood, it held its form. Blu always carried ordinary vegetable oil with him--it was about the only way to make kanji in water-based solutions, and the kanji would still take on the surrounding solution (in this case, his blood) as the catalyst. The mage spoke the word "staunch," and the kanji took effect, lightly scabbing the blood soaking his injury.
As Blu had been awakening, Trunks had placed his fingers beside him and Ayame. Now, using his teeth to tear a section of his own robe, Blu wrapped the fingers and palm segment inside. "As he asked, if you could freeze these, I'd be much obliged. Makes it much easier for the patchmages when they don't have to call in a necromancer too."
Finally forcing himself to his knees, Blu turned to face the beast. Though obviously enraged, it was luckily not charging. Trunks stood before it, seeming rather upset himself. "Trunks! Before you attack, let me do one more thing to help you."
Soaking his left pointer finger in the cloth on his hand, Blu began to create kanji on the floor. After several seconds and a few "ink" refillings from the cloth, six markings lay on the ground--"earth, pillar, raise, linear," and a delineation for 15 feet (which used two symbols). Taking another vial from his robe, Blu cracked it open, and encircled the grouping of symbols in Trunks' blood to better associate them.
"Alright Trunks, get ready. You need to strike quickly." Blu quickly spoke off all of the symbols in proper order, and as they glowed azure, there was a rumbling in the temple. In mere seconds, a great earthen pillar would burst from the floor directly beneath the mirrored beast, hopefully knocking it on its back, or at least unbalancing it enough for Trunks to finish the job.

It seemed as though she would only be seen as an extenstion of her mother. Still...she hoped she could be of service since moments before the mage had yanked her out of danger yet again. Placing a hand over the cloth, Ayame closed her eyes in concentration. Her palm emitted a chill that dropped the temperature in the air around it...but it was far from freezing the fingers. With an angry growl she abandonned the waste of an effort (perhaps prematurely). Her hand snapped through a similar motion as when she had shot down the ropes and the cloth was covered with a small assortment of icicles. Seeing Blu was busy helping Trunks, Ayame picked up her ice and placed it within the wraps of cloth with the severed fingers.

The energy that flew about Trunks was left untouched by the cave room. Likewise, Blu's kanji were free to take effect on the other side of the crumbled wall. The earth pillar shot up beneath the beast, lifting it for a moment before it began to thrash around. The movements threw its balance off and the creature fell off to its right (the left of the onlookers). It thudded to the floor on its back, taking out a few stalagmites. For the moment, it was stuck, but clawed feet were grabbing at neighboring rocks as the oversized reptile tried to roll itself over.

Trunks took off. Although he wasn't as fast as he could possibly be he was still quicker than most. Shoving off with his legs he lept into the air drawing his sword in the process. He dodged a few of the hanging stalagtites as he soared through the air. Upon reaching the stomach of the beast the saiyan swung his sword down the middle of it's gut.
Again he jumped but this time purposfully right into a stalagtite. His back slammed right into the base. As the rock cracked at the base Trunks dropped down and maneuvered around where he planned for it to fall. With his back to the beast he waited for the rock to come down to him. Within seconds it was right where he wanted it. Trunks flipped in the air delivering a bicylce kick to the base of the stone sending in soaring at the beast like a giant spear. If the sword for some reason didn't penetrate he was sure this would.
