"Ayame run!"
"So he says..."
But there was still a tail shooting down the hallway, and with Trunks and Blu gone, she was left as the target. With swords still drawn, she tried to fall back towards the entrance without turning her back to the snake. As Trunks yanked his sword free, however, the snake's body jerked in pain, sending the tail thrashing insanely through the hall. Ayame made an attempt to deflect the quills -- she saved herself from being impaled against the wall, but the spasmodic jerking of the tail rolled the oversized quill off her blade to take a clean slice through her left side. Blood began to soak through her clothing.
Ayame managed to fall back to the opening of the entrance which seemed to be out of the reach of the snake (for the moment). Though painful, she noted the wound was not fatal in depth, but was worried to see the torn edges of her clothing being eaten away as though exposed to acid. Though the damage stopped soon after, she wondered what effects it might have on her body.

The snake snapped at Blu, only to be stopped mid-dive by his chained blade. Then there was Trunks appearing before the serpent to rip the blade from its face. The snake was taking a real beating and seemed uncertain of which annoyance it wanted to strike at first.
With the blade withdrawn from its head, a stream of blood began to run down the snake’s face. The wear and tear looked taxing, but the snake showed no signs of slowing.
The creature noticed Blu making a dash for the Moon room. It turned its full attention there and launched itself towards Blu...in an effort to stop his entering by devouring him.

The snake apparently wasn't in the mood to let Blu leave, and far be it for him to argue. The serpent had lunged from above at a target moving away from it, so Blu jumped back toward the snake, launching his lashknife blade upward into the gaping jaws of the beast.
The snake's gnashing bite missed Blu by only inches, but as he had hoped, the blade impaled itself deeply into the creature's unprotected inner-flesh. The blood fell liberally from its mouth, and before it could locate him and make another lunge, the kanji mage lapped some up in his hand.
Wrapping the chain several times, he stuck the hilt through it in a makeshift knot, shortening the length between the hilt and the blade to around five feet. He then quickly dashed three identical kanji onto the shaft with the blood. Tossing the hilt to the stone floor, he shouted, "adhere!" The kanji glowed their short burst of light-blue, and then the weapon magically secured to everything it touched--both the floor and the inside of the serpent's mouth. It wouldn't hold for long, but it would have to do.
"Trunks! The underbelly isn't protected by spikes. Let's get rid of this thing, already!" He could only hope that they could accomplish this before the trapped beast's thrashing crushed him, impaled him, or otherwise rendered him deceased.

The snake pulled at its restraints. The sudden wound opened up in the sensative flesh of its mouth was more than enough to hault its attacks for the time being. The hilt adhered to the floor and mouth solidly as the kanji took effect. However, in a few brief seconds the hilt began to quiver. A faint blue light bled down from the hilt to the floor, where it was absorbed by the stone. As the light faded from its source, the hilt broke free from the floor. The blade was still lodged within the beast’s mouth, which left the chain to be tugged along. For the moment, the snake was shaking its head, trying to rid itself of the irritation.

Trunks didn't hesitate. The second that the snake put it's head into the air to shake the lash knife free the Saiyan sped off. Again the sword glowed with energy as he swung. Catching the snake right beneath the base of the head the saiyan hoped to decapitate this foe. There was much resistance as he tried to cut through the armored scales that proctected the other side. Trunks pulled with all his might. A trail of energy followed the sword as he removed it from the snakes neck.

Beyond the armored scales there was little resistance. The snake's head fell to the floor in a pool of blood. This might have been an opportune time to reclaim the lash knife...except that the snake didn't stop, even after decapitation. A severed head in need of a heart and a decapitated body in need of a brain required much energy indeed. And there was a source somewhere. Luckily for Blu and Trunks, the head was having a hard time moving and the body had no direction to follow. Still, a massive body coated in spikes thrashing about and a set of jaws still hungry for blood was not something you wanted in your main hall. Trunks' aura flickered much like the mage's enchanted hilt. Though not as brilliant as the source, a small trail of golden aura was glowing down from Trunks to the floor.

The snake’s tail had retreated back into the main room, leaving the hallway open for Ayame. She had become lightheaded with a few beads of perspiration forming on her face. Apparently the poison from the quills had kicked in, though it didn’t seem to be too drastic at the moment -- she could relate it to something like the flu...more irritating than life-threatening.
Ayame decided to reenter the temple, though if the snake’s tail shot down the hallway again there might be problems. She didn’t want to abandon her two comrades, although they were probably handling it better than her. Besides, it was better to die in the middle of the chaos than rot away outside while everyone else was having “fun”.
Feeling weary, she sheathed her wakizashi. This left an extra arm open to steady her katana. With that, she made her way back to the other end of the hallway.

Trunks fell to the ground on one knee. His golden aura dissappeared as did his super saiyan hair.
"You bastard! You were using me the entire time to heal yourself. Well I don't need to be a super saiyan to kick your ass."
Trunks lept up into the air with sword in hand. His aim was for one thing and one thing only. The snakes head. As he came down he held his sword much like Link would. His goal: to shove the sword through the skull of the snake ending it's life forever.

Unable to maneuver, the snake took a blade through the skull and into the brain. This halted its movements. The body thrashed around a few moments longer until finally crashing down to the floor. The dust began to settle.

"Well, that was a good start to my day. Nice job, Trunks. Couldn't have done it better myself."
Picking his lashknife off of the floor, Blu examined the three kanji he had written. The blood was no longer red. Though they had been scrawled only a minute ago, and should still be wet, they were dried and cracked like old mud, and of a blackish color. This temple was apparently not going to allow him nor Trunks to play at full power.
Blu was very interested in collecting some blood from the fallen beast, but his attention was drawn by a more pressing matter, framed in the entryway by the thin sunlight from outside.
"Ayame!"
