"You're a really strange person, aren't you?"
Kell looked at her sideways. He didn't know if he should be mad at her again or not. It has been a roller coaster of emotions since she showed up though.
"Jury's still out on that one."
Kell stood up. Based on her total breakdown just mentioning the Alliance will be enough to keep her in check. Still though he wanted to keep an eye on her.
"You've got a lot of work to do to make up for all of this shenanigans. Arthur is going to be giving me a play by play of everything that you do so no funny business."
As he was saying this Kell typed in the instructions on the tablet for Arthur. Any actions that she made when it came to Arthurs AI or the engines would be reported to him as a feed on his tablet.
He looked up at Regal.
"As for you. We have business to attend to if you would like to join me on the bridge."

Regal watched as Mistral picked herself off the floor. She was a mess, but she seemed to be on her way to recovery, even if that was subject to change with the whimsical nature of the captain.
"You're..." *sniff* "You're a really strange person, aren't you?"
His lips compressed, partially to hold back the irritation at her inability to refrain from provoking Kell and partially to hold back a snicker of agreement.
"Jury's still out on that one."
No. No they are not.
"As for you...
Why did he feel like he was being scolded, too?
"We have business to attend to if you would like to join me on the bridge."
"Aye aye, sir."
Regal turned to leave, though he spared a last glance back at Mistral. With a small shake of his head, he started on his way. His eyes were only just beginning to settle into a single, light blue hue.
"I'll see you there. Gonna stop in my bunk quick."
He lightly tapped the pistol to show that he meant to drop it off before the meeting.

Mistral watched Kell and his still-unnamed passenger leave before reentering the engine room. With some of the residual engine heat still present, the room was a few degrees above human-standard, which in itself was a few degrees higher than Mistral's preferred temperature. At the moment, however, she didn't even notice the heat. She just leaned back against the wall, and deliberately banged the back of her skull against the bulkhead.
"What a disaster."
It occurred to her that she hadn't asked Kell about where she would be sleeping. Probably just a pallet on the floor in here--there was no way he was going to give her her own quarters after all this. At the moment, it didn't matter; she didn't want to show her face for the rest of this trip.
"At least you don't hate me, Arthur."
"Indeed not. Although I will be monitoring all of your actions, as per the captain's order."
Okay, that sounded a bit creepy. Better not to think about it. The only way to really occupy her mind and try to forget this mess was to work.
She hadn't really done anything to break or reprogram Arthur--just modified his command recognition algorithms--and the VI had self-diagnosed and repaired that by now, so there wasn't much to do there besides a little cleaning up. So for now, she would focus on the impulse and FTL drives. Engineering was not her specialty, but she had taken enough courses to get by. Probably. No better way to learn than by jumping into the real thing, right?

The captain followed Regal up the stairs. When his new friend entered his bunk Kell continued onto the bridge. He messed with the controls until Regal joined him then he stopped what he was doing.
"Thank you for joining me down there. You didn't have to do that. I lost my temper at first, but I think that she is going to work out well for us. She'll keep things running smoothly and so far she's keeping herself honest."
He held up the tablet and the stream of data from Arthur.

Though he didn't disassemble the weapon, Regal at least thought to place it back in the case so that it wasn't sitting out in the open and tempting stowaways to cause more trouble. He then went to meet with Kell.
"Thank you for joining me down there. You didn't have to do that. I lost my temper at first, but I think that she is going to work out well for us. She'll keep things running smoothly and so far she's keeping herself honest."
Regal studied the tablet a moment, more-so to choose his response than actually confirm what Kell had said. When he was ready, his gaze moved to the captain.
"That, or she already has your system displaying a dummy feed. Still, I can see the advantage of keeping her around."
There. He had voiced his concern while still acknowledging Kell's decision, and it saved him from being stationed with the engines. The little time the Vuulaps had spent thinking over how he could make himself useful was not returning many ideas. There did seem to be a need for security...
"Anyways, you do not need to thank me, Akello Ts'ao. If I am to serve aboard this ship, then that makes you my captain. Wouldn't have done me any good to stand against you."

"That, or she already has your system displaying a dummy feed. Still, I can see the advantage of keeping her around."
Kell had definitely thought of that, but she didn't even attempt to touch Arthur. He was sure that the feed was accurate for now. He would do a manual inspection here in a bit.
"Anyways, you do not need to thank me, Akello Ts'ao. If I am to serve aboard this ship, then that makes you my captain. Wouldn't have done me any good to stand against you."
Kell shook his head at the sound of someone calling him a captain.
"No, no, no. First and foremost you can call me Kell. Hearing my whole name makes me feel like my mom is yelling at me. Secondly, don't think of me as your captain. Yes, I own the ship and yes, Arthur will call me captain, but only because I think it's weird for a computer to address someone by name. You are a guest here. I expect my guests to take care of this place is all. I also figure that it's easier for you to do some work than to spend that hard earned money just for me to take you from point A to point B. So, what exactly is it that you would like to do around here and speaking of traveling. Where exactly are we headed?"
Kell hit some buttons on his console and a standard DeLorme holographic space chart appeared in the middle of the bridge.

Regal blinked in a bit of surprise at Kell's requests. The name issue shouldn't have been a shocker -- alien cultures rarely addressed each other appropriately on the first try. The captain thing was odd, but it saved him from using titles. This human was quite laid back. Regal spoke while he searched for the exact coordinates on his communication device.
"I noticed you may need to up security a bit. Perhaps you'd take on an officer. Well, I guess I wouldn't need a title, either."
Regal input the coordinates into the console, which in turn highlighted the sector they were headed for. It took him a moment to find the proper controls that would allow him to zoom in.
"This planet here...We're picking up a shipment of S-grade Ulexite from the mines. It's supposed to be a pretty quiet world, not all that well-known. Good for mining, not for living. The cargo is nothing big. Just needs to get home quietly. I don't know if you've worked with any other Vuulaps..."

Clearly, Arthur wasn't enough for the ship if Mistral got on with no problem. That might work.
"I don't know if you've worked with any other Vuulaps..."
Kell shook his head.
"No, I've not. My knowledge of the Vuulaps comes from books and second hand stories."

Regal looked fairly disappointed.
"Oh...I see..."
He stared absently at the map for a moment.
"Anyways...The drop off point is Nmoa Jepyasaul."
Regal paused to see if Kell had any objections or inquiries. During the break, he entered the drop off coordinates into the system, which generated a suggested route. Whether it was practical for their trip or not remained in question.

Kell looked at the map.
"That looks pretty good. Shouldn't take too long to get there."
Kell pushed some more buttons and the map disappeared. A separate console lit up across from his.
"As our security officer I think you should be in charge of weapons and shields too."
He pointed out the new console.
"Not that I think that we'll need any of that. This is the main station that you can work from, but any tablet in the ship can access and control any other part of the ship with the right credentials, or if you just hack your way in apparently."
Kell turned back to his controls to make sure the navigation system plotted a good course.
"Oh I forgot to mention. There is one room on this ship that is off limits to everyone. Arthur doesn't even have access to it. It's downstairs across from the medical bay."
The yellow line on the map with the suggested route turned green as Kell locked it into place. Before Regal could say anything about his room Kell kept going on.
"So, tell me a little about yourself. It's not common for a Vuulaps to leave home from what I understand."
