"I could be a sort of mediator."
Ede smiled at this. Communication with her guard would be a wonderful change, as long as she could trust her thoughts to be properly conveyed. Even if the woman was as trustworthy as she tried to come off as, there was still the chance for errors in translation.
"But I know nothing about this area, so I'd rather travel with companions than wander aimlessly on my own."
That, Ede could agree with.
"कृतनिश्चय. Pleasing to let us travel together."
She turned back to Doran to see if he'd concluded his exchange so that she could inform him, or get Scarlette to, at least.

"Guess I'll take your word for it."
"Wait, you obviously protect this girl, but you can't understand her?"
The woman spoke all the while listening to the others conversation. Her attention was quickly taken by the man she was just sitting behind. He quickly stood from his chair, patted himself down, and then spun in a quick circle while staring at the ground.
A sly smile came to her face. She turned back to the large man and the conversation behind him. She didn't hear everything because of the distraction and the lowering of their voices , but she heard something about a sword, Ostrheinsburg, and an opportunity to join their group.
Her left hand went out and she placed it on the arm of the giant. She attempted to move him to the side gently, but instead pushed herself to the right of him.
"Excuse me my large friend."
With a slight lean she could see the two sitting down at the table. In fluent French she spoke to them.
"Pardon me, but I couldn't help but overhear your dilemma. Let me introduce myself. My name is Rayne (Rain).."
She bowed slightly.
"and as you can tell I can speak both French and German. My mother was French and my father German. Anyway, I think that an interpreter would be a great help to your party as well as another companion in case of another incident like the one you've already faced."
Rayne motioned toward the red haired woman.
"I may not look it, but I can definitely handle myself in a fight and in other tasks that need a little less noticing, if you get what I'm saying."

The sudden sound of the other woman's voice startled her. Her mouth thinned once again (she certainly didn't want to deal with anyone else at the moment) but then, with one of her statements, bad went to worse.
"... Anyway, I think that an interpreter would be a great help to your party as well as another companion in case of another incident like the one you've already faced."
Oh, how wonderful. Not only was she eavesdropping, the woman was making an example out of her. Her expression darkened, though she did not turn to face her just yet. She'd have to let her temper settle, first.
Still, whether the woman was allowed join their group or not was a decision that was out of her hands.
...as much as she hated to admit the fact.

Doran's attention to the black-haired girl momentarily wavered as he heard Scarlette speak one of the very few French words he had made sure to pick up--not just once, but twice. "Sabre." Of course, she could be referring to just about any sword, but the way in which she spoke the word led him to doubt that. And "Ostrheinsburg." He knew exactly where that was, though wasn't about to say so for right now.
He couldn't tell whether Scarlette was asking for information, trying to sell information, or perhaps wanted to join them, but any decisions such as those were up to Ede. It was Doran's job not to trust Scarlette, and he certainly didn't. The Sword that he pursued wasn't quite common knowledge, but it wasn't a well-kept secret either. He thought it very likely that she could be trying to mislead them or send them into some trap or ambush by allies of hers. Ede would decide how to proceed, but Doran would be sure that any ulterior plans would come to naught.
It was this momentary distraction that allowed the other girl access to the table (he believed she had called herself "Rayne"). Doran allowed her to speak her piece, since she obviously spoke French as well as her German, but then pushed her gently but firmly back away from the table after she had finished. It was like using a boulder to push a cotton ball. Keeping his hand on her shoulder, he turned around to Ede and pointed at Rayne, silently asking what she wanted done with her.

The newest woman to offer her services caught Ede off-guard. She didn't catch much more than her name was "Rayne". whether she realized it or not, Rayne was speaking a bit too quickly, most likely because she knew her time was limited before Doran apprehended her. As he forced Rayne away from the table, Ede took time to sift through the various words thrown at her. There wasn't much more this woman was offering beyond what Scarlette had already thrown out on the table.
"...need a little less noticing..."
Ede believed she caught the meaning hidden there, and she knew well the value of such things. When Doran pointed at Rayne, Ede held up a hand, signaling him to hold on ejecting her from the conversation just yet.
She weighed in her mind the pros and cons of taking on two strangers so fast. Their skill and knowledge were obviously welcome. If she took on two people with separate ambitions, perhaps they would keep each other in check from betraying the group as a whole. On the other hand, they could easily join forces...
She finally spoke, in her broken French:
"I will entertain the idea."
She extended a hand in the direction of an empty seat at her table, inviting Rayne to join them. She had yet to catch Scarlette's disapproving look.

"I will entertain the idea."
That was most certainly not what she wanted to hear. Damn!
As Ede motioned to the other chair at the table, the red-haired woman fought back the urge to let out an aggravated cry. She didn't want anything to deal with someone as rude at that other woman, but now she didn't have any other choice.
As she forced herself to put on a (marginally) more pleasant expression, she folded her hands on the table and took a deep breath to calm her raging temper. Despite the anger bubbling just beneath her demeanor, she was going to act as calm and civil as she could.
After all, if this "Rayne" woman ever got ahead of herself, Scarlette could take it upon herself to ensure that she would meet with an... unfortunate accident.

"Mmmmm..." Doran grumbled in mild disapproval as Ede invited Rayne to have a seat. The girl really was too trusting. Then again, that was probably the only reason he was hired in the first place. He, of course, knew that he only had honest intentions, but he could think of no reason that Ede should trust some beastly man she couldn't even understand to protect her.
It was obvious to him that Scarlette shared his distaste for Ede's decision. That didn't stop him from picking up the chair that had been offered Rayne (currently equidistant between Scarlette and Ede) and moving it so that it sat directly adjacent to Scarlette's own, leaving both women on the opposite end of the table as Ede. His job was to protect one person, not to see to the comfort and preference of random stranger number one.
One thing, above all else, was very certain--Doran's cooperativeness had reached its limit. Two untrustworthy women was enough for him to keep his eyes on. The next stranger to saunter up to the table would find that nice-and-friendly Doran was gone for the night.

If there were ever a time where Scarlette wanted to run someone through with careless abandon, it would be now.
It was bad enough that she was mocked. It was even worse that this shady woman was now joining them on their trek.
Having the giant of a man move the other woman directly next to her was enough to make her want to stab something.
She took another breath and moved her chair to get at least a foot of separation between her and Rayne, her face set into a very dark expression. She was officially through with trying to hide her dislike of the newcomer; it was miracle enough that she hadn't gotten up and walked away by now.
(And, if she wasn't horribly afraid of having her head caved in, she probably would have punched the daylights out of the larger man. But she certainly knew better to do that.)

"Mmmmm..."
After the invitation to sit Rayne turned to the large man beside her and spoke to him.
"I offered my services for your group in the form of translator and... one who has a fondness of shadows. I think I'll be able to help in your search for the sword they were speaking about. Your companion here said that she would think about my offer. The name is Rayne by the way. I'm afraid I hadn't introduced myself to you yet."
As Doran pulled out the chair Rayne removed her cloak and placed it over the chair. This revealed two pair of knives and several pouches on her belt. She also placed the belt over the back of the chair. The belt gets heavy after awhile and she wanted everyone there to trust her. Removing any weapons was one way of doing that to her. She knew that they way she looked and what she did didn't always earn the most trust right away. She held onto her bracelet though and continued to play with it.
"Thank you, but I think I'll stand. I'm clearly not welcome there."
She didn't really know why the red haired woman didn't like her. Had she said something to offend. Rayne retraced her words, but couldn't think of anything she might have said that was offensive or that she mistranslated. She was going to call her out on it but didn't want to stir up anything else.
Rayne turned to the females there and spoke to them now. She spoke a bit slower realizing that the younger girl's French wasn't perfect.
"I do apologize, but I didn't catch either of your names."

Ede caught Scarlette's reaction to the placement of Rayne's chair next to her seat. She frowned inwardly. She hadn't caught her initial displeasure, so the sudden aura of hatred around the woman was disturbing. Rayne shared some words with Doran, but the speed and Ede's recent entry into the language kept her from picking up much more than "sword" and a repeat of the woman's name. When it became clear that Rayne wouldn't be sitting, though she had taken the time to lay aside her cloak and belt as though she meant to stay, the young girl stood.
"I am Ede. Possibly I could be buying a drink to you?"
She nodded to Scarlette and Rayne both, hoping that could bring some civility back to the table. She turned to Doran, hoping the single word would suffice.
"Beverages."
Ede looked around the room, but saw no sign of any tavern staff working the floor at the moment. A trip to the bar would be necessary. She would not send Doran in her place -- he was her guard, not her personal butler. However, she knew well enough in their short time together that he would be accompanying her to the bar all the same. It would at least make ordering easier.
"What would you like?"
