"...And if it tears my soul from my body and sends it to Hell--I hear Trunks can throw a mean party."
Trunks chuckled at this comment. Well if things didn't work out.... he didn't really have anything to lose. So on that note he turned his back two those two. Upon doing so he made sure that he pushed on the leg of the kanji mage, with the sword, to make sure that he knew he wasn't kidding around, making sure not to cut him. Although he considered him a friend and ally no one messes with Ayame. Trunks sheathed his sword and headed for the entrance. His golden aura lit the dark hall as he stepped into. Trunks made sure he examined the walls for any kind of hints as to what's to come.

Ayame blinked, noting Trunks had abruptly decided to continue on his adventure.
"Okay, then."
Not wanting to be left alone with this potential pervert, she slipped by him to fall into step behind Trunks just inside the entrance. His aura provided some light to the immediate area, but being second in line left her to depend on his dungeon-navigating skills to detect any dangers.
Ayame glanced behind her to see if there would be a third person joining their team.

"In we go, then."
Falling in behind, Blu was content to take up the rear for now. Super Saiyajins seemed bred as the perfect tanks anyways--it made perfect sense to him to let Trunks take point. This far back from the aura, however, the light was a little lacking. On the tip of his lashknife blade, Blu made a tiny prick in his left pointer finger, and used the droplet of blood to make a small kanji--light--on the edge of the lashknife hilt. Securing the blade and chain to his wiast, the mage held up the hilt like a makeshift torch. The mark could have been handled with simple ink, but the blood would insure that a simple kanji such as this would last as long as necessary.

The hallway lacked space. There was enough for two people to walk abreast, though it would have been a bit on the crowded side. The ceiling was within an arm's reach of the average person. The inside stones lining the walls, ceiling and floor seemed different from their exterior counterparts, though it was hard to tell in the scarce light. There also seemed to be no traps to trigger, though the confined space was inviting. Eventually, the corridor met with the main dome. Where it did, the ceiling suddenly rose well out of reach. If the outside of the dome reached 50 feet, the inner ceiling in this entrance hall was at least 30 feet up if not more. The vast room stretched out before them, clear of obstructions -- there were no pillars or steps. It seemed as though the dome had merely been hollowed out. The walls were carved with multiple designs and motifs. The details of these designs were intensified by the light not only from the visitors, but also from a number of torches scattered about the walls. Oddly enough, the torches were lit, illuminating the room enough to leave no dark corners, but casting deep shadows along the details of the carvings. The stone's true nature was also revealed in this new light -- the rock used within was as smooth as glass. The closest comparision would be to an earth-toned marble. The light easily bounced off of it and one might notice a silouette of themselves reflected at close-range, but mirror-like reflections were beyond the stone. Their steps echoed about the large room...invisible relfections. Dividing the dome in its center was a wall, which sealed off each side from the other completely. This wall was about 24 feet in front of the opening from the hallway. In the middle of the wall were two curved depressions (similar to what one might find in a Cloister of Trials...?). The left depression sat in the middle of what appeared to be a stone-carved sun. The right sat in the inner curve of a crescent moon. Both were within reach of human arms. There were no cracks in the wall to give away the identity of a door. There was an archway on both the left and right sides of the entrance hall. The left archway shared the same sun carving in its keystone as the left depression. The right archway had a moon engraving. Both keystones were well-lit by a torch. The rooms that lay beyond were not visible from the entryway. A rough idea of the main room's layout. Thank you, Paint.[/i]

Instead of deciding on one room or the other the Saiyan prince decided to investigate the room that he was in. The carvings all over the walls and the sun and the moon caught his attention the most so he decided to take a closer look.

The carvings were finely detailed, engraved in the same stone as the rest of the inner dome. There seemed to be no trigger mechanisms...no buttons or switches. The depressions appeared as if they were made to hold something spherical. The smooth stone looked as though it invited a curious touch, reflecting a silhouette to any onlookers who approached close enough in a hypnotic way.

The saiyan prince ran his fingers along the smooth surface of the depressions. It definitely held something. Now what to choose. The sun or the moon. Trunks was rather fond of heat so he choose the sun. Turning around he headed for the sun doorway.

As Trunks ran a finger over the stone, the depressions began to emit a glow. This glow faded as he drew his finger away…and what immediately followed was a rumbling from the floor. The floor beneath Trunks quaked, cracking along some pre-existing lines that were obviously to a trap door. Three sides broke free and the piece of stone fell, swinging back towards the wall that had triggered it. Even with Trunks’ super saiya-jin aura, the darkness overtook visibility. Faint glimmers hinted at a pit of spikes below. Another rumble shook the floor and the spikes below. Without warning, the spikes shot up towards the opening of the pit. A set of jaws with teeth much like the fierce spikes, shot out from the pit, heading right for Trunks with the speed of a snake. In fact, the head that emerged from the pit was that of a serpent…a serpent armored with full-body spikes.

Gravity took affect before Trunks could react. Trunks knew that something was down there but couldn't tell what. His first reaction was to send a ki blast down into the abyss but he didn't want to destroy anything. Next choice was to get the hell out of there. Trunks shot up out of the hole and back onto the ground with everyone else. Three on one is better than one.
"Guys get ready!"
The saiyan unsheathed his sword. Ready for whatever came out of the hole.

Ayame unsheathed her swords the moment the serpent's head shot up out of the hole. The head was after the saiya-jin, though -- it shot down towards the ground where he stood. Through the blur of its movement they could see that the spikes would be annoying hurdles for their weapons. The spikes were abundant and curved about in sporadic directions. A second piece of the snake shot out of the pit...it was a tail complete with structures that looked like quills..only these quills were spear-like in size. The tail swiped the floor at Ayame’s feet. She managed to evade it in a last-minute jump but was unsteady on her feet as she landed, leaving her no opening to counter.
