((I'm sooo rusty and as far as a timeline goes I have no idea where this Trunks falls. Hell, my backstory is so jacked from the new DBZ doesn't it even really matter at this point? I guess this is Older Trunks. Been through hell, heaven, has wings, died, came back (don't know how). Time Compression obviously allows everything and everyone, but this Trunks is SSJ Blue level minus the blue. That doesn't exist in my mind. Damn my backstory.))
It was just a typical day. The tall grass danced slowly in the summer breeze as the clouds above seemed to race through the noon sky. A herd of wild horses were grazing among the low hills of the plains. Their path through the grass was slowly making its way toward the forrest in the East. There the ancient trees seemed to sing as the wind flew through their branches. This area was peaceful. Somehow the Mirinians had not yet moved their cities this direction, but it wouldn't be long.
For now though it was the place he came to get away from it all. It's where he came to train. A long time ago the horses stopped caring him sparring with no one. They just left him alone. Today, wasn't about his fighting skills. The Saiyan Prince sat on top of the lone rock in the middle of the field. His legs were crossed and his arms rested on his lap. His wings were fully extended, soaking up the sun. Trunks' long purple hair fell loosely on his shoulders. With his eyes closed he thought through his life. So many battles. Friends and enemies both had come and gone. He'd traveled, both through the dark pits of hell, and through the blissful clouds of heaven. He'd led a good life. Not a perfect life, but a good one. He's finally found some peace.
Despite the new found peace the Saiyan blood in him called for a fight. He could feel his ancestors screaming for more power. His golden aura shot up around him. Surely there was someone around that would be able to quench this thirst.

"Oh? So this is where you've been been."
The voice echoed through the fields from above. It wasn't exactly a threatening voice, but the herds of horses in the immediate vicinity began to move along all the same.
A petite figure hung in the air above Trunks, wings outstretched with intermittent flaps to maintain altitude. In truth, this was mostly for show. There were other ways to maintain flight. Her icy left arm glittered in the sunlight from the elbow to fingertips, a transparent, functioning prosthetic to supplement the arm she'd lost to one of the hunters Inu had sent. Despite the fair weather, it showed no signs of melting.
She glared down at Trunks, an action made (intentionally) possible by her mid-air suspension.
"Did you think you could hide away here forever?"
She'd had her suspicions that the saiyajin would come here. He'd always been fond of Mirina.
"I'll drag you back if that's how it's going to be."
Dota eyed up her target. Internally, she cursed him as she noticed his outstretched wings. A petty rivalry from old times welled up within her, but that particular person was no longer around. Dota, however, seemed to have no shortage of winged friends these days to keep the knife firmly planted in her ego.
Tch...
Her irritation was funneled over to the task at hand.
"Well?"

"Well?"
Trunks stood slowly. His wings folded tightly against his back as he bent to the side, stretching out his legs and back. Several joints popped as he straightened back out.
Wow. It's been awhile.
He wasn't going to let her know that he was a little nervous about what was going to go down. When was the last time he had fought? His memories weren't what they used to be. They stopped being linear and felt more like knot than a timeline. He finally returned her gaze with a smile. Despite a constant fight with some inner demons, Trunks always respected her. She would always be his sensei... no matter how many times he tried to kill her. Today, there would be no death, as far as he was concerned. Just a friendly fight. And maybe a little bit of blood.
"Awww. Did Blu miss me and send you to do his dirty work?"
He laced his fingers together and stretched out his arms, cracking his knuckles in both hands.
"I guess you're going to have to drag me back."
Let's see if that got a reaction. He clenched both fists and his aura picked up even more. He could feel a spark of energy come back to him. Something he hadn't felt in what seemed like millennia. He felt young again.

Dota raised an eyebrow as Trunks casually stood and stretched, reading the move as a blatant show of defiance. When he was satisfied with his display, he looked up at her.
"Awww. Did Blu miss me and send you to do his dirty work?"
She nearly responded truthfully to this without catching the sarcastic dig, but despite initially missing his tone, something in Trunks's posture and smug attitude stopped Dota from embarrassing herself at the last second. She clenched her jaw in silent anger.
"I guess you're going to have to drag me back."
Dota felt the surge just as the spark came to life around him.
Fine.
Time had passed since she'd last encountered Trunks. In truth, she was surprised to see he still walked the same plane as her. Secretly, it was comforting to see a familiar face, regardless of the relationship. But that was her flaw, being anchored to and reliant upon the past. The more time advanced, the more she wished it hadn't. It would land her in trouble if she thought that this Trunks was the same Trunks branded into her memories: student, novice. His wings helped as a visual reminder, at least. But how to deviate from the past? She deliberated only briefly before flying at the saiyajin head-on, icy fingers tensed into claws, ready to tear an arc into his flesh. In truth, she'd probably tried this 'unconventional' method too many times to call it an exception anymore, but that thought didn't occur to Dota.

It worked! Her claws came racing toward him. The thought popped into his head that this was probably an illusion. From behind the real Dota was going to tear out his heart. Or was she trying to pull one over on him. There was only one safe decision.
Trunks dove to his left side. Tucked. Then rolled back up to his feet. Each hand held a sphere of green energy. They would do little damage to her, but if he caught her with them then he wouldn't let her hear the end of it. The two orbs flew through the air to where he anticipated she would be.

Trunks dove to Dota's right, leaving her a clear spot to land and turn to face him. Regardless of where she might have approached from, her ultimate destination was obvious, and Trunks had shot his dual ki blasts with that in mind. They tore through the air at her, and she leapt forward to meet them. There was an explosion, but whether it had been because they'd struck her or the ground near her was hard to tell since a cloud of dust and debris now masked the immediate area. In a matter of seconds, Dota's winged figure shot out of this cloud, continuing her advance on Trunks. She wanted to keep him under pressure, no time to breathe. A certain memory had flashed in her mind.
Dota! Get in close. I can't fight with someone real close!
She remembered the Time Kompression trial in the Battledome well enough, but it felt distant and dream-like these days. Maybe it had been a dream. Maybe it had been real. Maybe it was a vision of the future. Trunks's reaction would be the answer.

He knew the energy would have done little more than singe her clothes so when the dust flew he knew a counter attack wasn't far behind. What he didn't anticipate was another head on attack. It was rare for him to fight someone who didn't have some kind of "super power". This usually meant longer range. He just wasn't used to close hand to hand fights.
The Saiyan Prince took off and flew the opposite direction, away from Dota. He left a trail in the tall grass as his aura ripped through it. He could only assume that she was following, and close. He was going to have to fight hand to hand even though he was out matched. Trunks punched the earth with his left hand slowing him down. His legs kept their momentum and swung out around him. With all his might he held the earth, pivoting on his arm. Both legs were locked, ready to make contact with her face.

Dota pressed on after Trunks through the grassland. She had him on the run. However, the very thoughts that had brought her to this advantage, proved to also be a critical distraction. The initial memory of Trunks's particular shortcoming was the beginning of a rapid downward spiral in her Battledome trial. His figure had transformed before her eyes...
Trunks punched the ground. Dota was aware of this, but her brain didn't compute the full implication. For a moment, as he spun around, she was afraid that a new face might await her...but it was still the saiyajin. Then, she realized too late that he was going on the offensive. She couldn't change course. The best Dota could do was twist around in the air so that it was her back and not her face meeting his feet. She tucked her wings close and braced herself to inevitably bowl into Trunks. This wasn't going to be pretty.

The boots of the Saiyan prince made full contact with Dota. The instant that he made contact he pushed off her spine and flipped in the air. He landed several feet away with his white wings fully spread to slow him down.
Slowly he walked toward where she would have landed. Each hand glowed with green energy. This time the energy surrounded his hands. Trunks was feeling overly confident after landing that kick so he decided he would give her the fight that she wanted.
"I hope that didn't hurt too bad. I just couldn't help myself. I'm ready for my dragging, though. When's that happening again?"
Egging her on was only going to get him beat, but at least it'd be fun.

Dota tumbled across the ground, propelled by Trunks's kick. When her body came to a stop, she didn't get up. Instead, she remained somewhat curled as pain fired through her, originating mostly from her wings. Trunks was approaching slowly, most likely revelling in the satisfaction of bringing her down so hard. It was a bad move on his part, but Dota of all people had no room to scold someone for toying with their victim. She used the moment to catch her breath.
"I hope that didn't hurt too bad. I just couldn't help myself."
She remained unmoving, her back to him, eyes closed. The sound of his voice, the sound of his steps and the energy he held kept her aware of his position in her haze of pain.
I'm ready for my dragging, though. When's that happening again?"
At that, though, Dota's eyes snapped open, anger apparent though he couldn't see. She should have laid still. She should have waited. She should have had him walk right into her hands with that cocky attitude. She did none of those things.
A blast of her frigid aura shot around the Ice Goddess. There was a single moment early in that chaos where the force would make Trunks's energy an unstable liability. It was that moment that Dota would use to leap back to her feet in the hope that Trunks would be forced to concentrate on stabalizing the orbs and would be unable to shoot them. It was a gambled -- she trusted in her timing, but couldn't be certain that the saiyajin wouldn't have a way around this.
She leapt up in such a way as to be spinning to face Trunks, her right hand scooping in a upwards diagonal arc, then her left following in a mirrored motion. From them shot out two crescent ice blades, one slightly in front of the other, but making an X all the same. They flew at Trunks, aimed at the general direction of his arms in the hopes of detonating whatever remained of the energy in his hands. __________________________________ Will retract and edit the end of the post if Trunks does not let Dota get up.
