Welcome to Frost Gem in Space
We lived a life of RP excess, creating more characters than we could use and initiating more fights than we could finish. We lost site of what it meant to have characters interact. The great empire has collapsed under its own weight.
Now is a great time to participate in board activities. We are about to begin shaping a new universe from scratch, with much of the content to come from various RP interactions. You participate....you build! The ground rules that follow are more-so guidelines to chaperone us after spending at least a decade running unrestrained in our previous established world.
Character Limit: While discussing the creation of this new realm, we came to a general agreement that the number of characters per member should initially remain low...as in one. This does not include making use of NPCs, but we'd like to stay away from Mun A's good guy fighting Mun A's bad guy to save Mun A's love interest. Also, we realize, despite having a significant number of registered members, that only about two to three people are ever active at one given time. This raises the likelihood of a second character being permitted to satisfy antagonistic needs. Our goal is to avoid any one person having to face themselves in conflict/battle/discussion, but this may prove to be unavoidable.
Time Limit: What is fair? We're open to suggestions and understand that everyone is busy. To start, we will permit a week to lapse before your turn is skipped. After that, if the RP circles back around to your turn, and you do not produce a post within 3 days, you will be dropped from the RP altogether. In-game consequences will have to vary depending on situation at the time (ie. continuing on as though the character was never there, incapacitating them, sending them away, etc.) Imposing a rule like this may prove to be the death of the board. We're willing to work with everyone, but this early time is a probation period, seeing as it was common for the previous incarnation to have months pass between posts on various RPs.
Race Limit: No saiyans.
Magic Limit: Magic is just beginning to re-emerge. Consider that before you make your character an arch-mage. Consider your character's feelings and that of his/her species feelings towards this. Are they using it innately? Training?
Technology
Sub light travel is fairly well-established in most regions.
Faster than light travel is relatively knew and can be cost-prohibitive.
No replicators.
No holodecks.
AI exists at the software level (ie. no robot races, but a ship may contain AI).
Politics
With sub light travel well-established, it's become common for entire planets to unify.
With faster than light travel established, expect to see solar system-level alliances form, if shaky.
