Rayne returned with quite a load. When she returned she saw her plate awaiting her. From a pouch she dumped some fruit onto the table. It was enough to feed all of them on fruit alone. Then next to the pile of fruit she pulled up another sack full of more food.
She greeted both girls as she entered. Scarlette was still not eating. Despite not really getting along with the woman she hated seeing her like this. She wanted to try and get to the bottom of it, but she knew that she would just be pushed away once again. Instead she turned to Katrin.
"So, have the other two returned yet?"

Scarlette raised a lazy hand in greeting to Rayne, forcing down a mouthful of meat -- followed by a few pieces of fruit that the thief had brought.
As Katrin turned to respond to the dark-haired woman, the red-head pushed the plate away a few inches. She wasn't going to force down any more; she was beginning to feel ill just on what little she had already eaten.
"So, have the other two returned yet?"
"No, not yet. I hope they'll return soon, though. Their food will get cold."
It was a silly thing to be worried about, really -- but, knowing that both of the ones that were out could easily hold their own, there was nothing else for the girl to be occupied by.
...well, except for Scarlette's health, but the rapier user wasn't letting on about anything. For all the blonde knew, she could be suffering through the plague, and no one would be able to tell until she dropped dead.

Ede managed to pick up what she hoped was the general meaning of Doran's response: Rayne would go with them. Scarlette wanted to go. Katrin...was either lonely or about to be left alone.
Once they'd reached the inn, Ede dismounted from the horse with some help from Doran. She stroked the fur on the animal's nose, admiring the beauty of the creature, until an image of the eviscerated remains of the party's previous horse came to mind. With a frowned, Ede stepped aside, allowing Doran to remove the cart, and secure their new horse to the broken remains of stalls outside of the building. While he did this, Ede went inside. She made her way to the dining area, stopping in the doorway to greet everyone (in French) with a her usual small, reserved smile.
"We have returned."
She noticed the plates of food, and spoke in German to Katrin:
"You did breakfast? Katrin's food always is good."
In truth, Katrin had little to work with. Ede was still grateful for the meals all the same, and made sure the girl knew so.

Doran was a few minutes behind Ede, having removed the cart and hitched the horse first. She was still standing when he came in, but he brushed past her, intent on heading deeper into the building, when he was caught by the scent of breakfast. Backpedaling a few steps, he grabbed an unclaimed plate and walked away with it, shoveling with gusto. He returned just minutes later, carrying a mallet, a sack of nails, and the empty plate, which he dropped onto another table.
"Thanks," he offered, not unkindly, and then disappeared back outside. A few seconds later, his head reappeared in the doorway.
"The cart's not in the best shape, so I'm going to fix it up. That'll give us one more day to fully prepare, so we'll be leaving first thing tomorrow." And then he was gone again, at least momentarily, until his head once again popped into view.
"Would one of you mind brushing and feeding the horse?" For the final time, he ducked outside, setting off to gather up some rough planks he had spent the month fashioning, both for some basic repairs of the inn, and in anticipation of their present need.

The rogue was glad to see the others return. She watched Doran come and go and come back a final time wondering what he was doing.
"Would one of you mind brushing and feeding the horse?"
"Ooh! I'll do it!"
Rayne grabbed some fruit off of the table and headed outside. She was excited about meeting the newest addition to their team.
When she walked outside she immediately walked over to the horse and began running her hands along its body.
"So Doran, do we have a name picked out for him."
Rayne continued to pet the horse while she feed him the first piece of fruit. They really needed to get him some tall grass or oats.

Ede and Doran's return was acknowledged by a nod of her head.
"Welcome back."
Doran's statement reminded her that she needed to finish gathering her things. Reluctantly, she rose to the table, and spoke in her much-improved German.
"...If we are to be leaving tomorrow, then I'll need to finish arranging my things," she murmured weakly. "If you would excuse me..."
With a simple bow, she left the dining area to head to her room, where her armor and rapier were kept.
"You did breakfast? Katrin's food always is good."
"Thank you, Miss Ede," the younger girl said cheerily. "There is not much here, but I try."
She then motioned to the fruit that Rayne had brought, adding with a smile, "Miss Rayne brought some fruits for us this morning, however! It's enough to add some variety to our meals."
Once Scarlette had left the dining area, she, too, went to the door.
"I'm going to ask Sir Doran a quick question. I'll be right back, Miss Ede!"
With that, she dipped out of the room and headed outside. She sat on a small stump a little ways away from the area Doran was using to work, watching him curiously before speaking up.
"Sir Doran, is it all right if I ask you something...?"

Doran was heading back toward the cart when Rayne frolicked past him, skipping merrily over to the horse to begin lavishing it with attention. He shook his head, thinking (not for the first time) that she was the most inappropriate rogue he could conceive of. Stepping up beside her, he took the cart by the hitch and began wheeling it away to the west side of the inn, designated earlier in the month as his work area.
"Pferd," he replied, offering up the German word for horse. He had better things to do than think of names for their beast of burden.
Minutes later he was sitting on a stump, hammering away at rough boards and planks he had fashioned during their stay, trying to repair and reinforce the cart to the best of his ability. He didn't even realize Katrin had approached until she spoke.
"Sir Doran, is it all right if I ask you something...?"
Jolting at the sudden voice so close behind, he slammed the mallet down on his thumb. He dropped the hammer to the ground and shouted out a litany of colorful obscenities as he turned in his seat, his visage one of fury.
When he saw Katrin's face, he silenced, forcing himself to soften his expression and hoping the girl wouldn't run away in tears.
"Just 'Doran,' Katrin, please," he said pleadingly. "And stop using the formal tone. I'm really unaccustomed to being addressed that way. Now, what is it?"

Ede quietly enjoyed her own breakfast plate while Doran sped busily around the inn. She'd already claimed a seat when he returned asking for someone to head outside and tend to the horse. Rayne seemed eager enough to meet their new furry companion anyways, so Ede was free to enjoy the remainder of her meal at a leisurely pace rather than the one Doran had displayed.
"I'm going to ask Sir Doran a quick question. I'll be right back, Miss Ede!"
The cheery Katrin was gone before Ede could even give a nod, leaving her in a peaceful silence. There was no time to enjoy it, however. This was an opportunity. Scarlette was separated from the rest of the party. Not that this was entirely uncommon, but Ede wanted to tread lightly. She didn't want it to seem as though attention was being drawn towards the woman. Everyone else was outside at the moment -- perhaps she would be more likely to share her thoughts. She rose from her seat, leaving her plate, but taking an apple with her.
Ede stopped at Scarlette's doorway, hesitated for a moment, then spoke.
"You are coming with us. Are you well for the journey?

Rayne continued brushing the horse as she listened in on Doran and Katrin's conversation.
Seriously, this post sucks... I have nothing for her to do at the time.

"You are coming with us. Are you well for the journey?"
Scarlette stiffened at the sound of the younger girl's voice, turning her head toward the door.
"...I'm well enough. Nothing short of death is going to stop me." Her voice was unusually flat, as though she were forcing herself to reply.
She tried to busy herself with her armor once again, but could not. Knowing that Ede was out there was... distracting, to say the least.
"...was that all you wanted to ask, or did you have more in mind?" She turned to face her completely, her hands folded behind her back.
The younger girl certainly didn't expect the rainbow of swear words to come flying out of Doran's mouth; she had thought he would have noticed her shuffling about, at the very least.
As he turned, she flinched, expecting to be scolded for interrupting his work; when his expression instead softened, she breathed a quiet sigh of relief, and folded her hands across her lap.
"Just 'Doran,' Katrin, please. And stop using the formal tone. I'm really unaccustomed to being addressed that way. Now, what is it?"
"I'm sorry, Si -- I-I mean, Doran," she fumbled with her words a bit, clearly not used to regarding others in a more casual manner. "I... I wanted to ask your advice, really."
She sat down on the grassy ground, settling her hands on her lap.
"I know you are all going to move ahead soon... but... I haven't a clue where you're headed, and I don't feel right coming along without at least a proper invitation."
She twiddled her thumbs for a moment, then continued in a softer tone.
"I'd... I'd really like to stay here, and repair the inn so that you have a place to return to later on... but, at the same time, I feel frightened about being alone here..."
