The giant man raised an eyebrow at the little girl's butchering of the most simple German. Not that he could do any better with French, English, or whatever it was that she natively spoke...
"Doran."
There was no indication that he intended to elaborate beyond that.

"Ede," she repeated, making sure the girl's name was firmly planted in her mind before glanced over to the larger man, "et Doran."
As he motioned to the chair, Scarlette smiled, then gave a simple bow before taking a seat.
"Enchantée," she said warmly, folding her hands across her lap. "Pouvez-vous m'aider? Je suis à la recherche de quelque chose."

Doran's initial reaction was disheartening, but when he gave his simple response, Ede smiled in relief. She had worried that her trip would be a silent, lonely one, snuffed out by their language barrier. She could hardly expect anyone to pick up her tongue. Indeed, why should they? She was the outsider. As such, the burden to fit in fell upon her.
"Recherche...ah! भवतु! Er, oui!"
Ede nodded for Scarlette to continue. Hopefully, she'd be able to relay the information to Doran.

"Pouvez-vous m'aider? Je suis à la recherche de quelque chose."
A hooded figure a table away lifted its head at the statement. It was different than the cheap pick up lines and common conversations everywhere else around the room.Slender arms covered in black sleeves came from behind the figure's back. The right hand slid a small pouch into its cloak then both hands slowly removed the hood. Beneath the hood was a young woman in her early twenties. Her long black hair matched the color of her cloak she wore.
The young woman put both elbows on her table and placed her chin in the palms of her hands. She tried to look as bored as possible but was most definitely staring at the group.

What with it being Doran's job and all, he was continuously scanning the entire tavern, and making all attempts at being obvious about it. He definitely preferred to quash any possible trouble before it started, not that he couldn't handle the trouble itself, either. He hadn't really given the hooded figure a few tables away much notice, but that was before she removed the hood.
It was rare enough to see a young girl like Ede in a place like this with a bodyguard. As far as Doran could tell, this dark-haired young lady was on her own. He wondered whether she was capable, or just stupid.
It was clear, despite her rather basic attempt to appear otherwise, that their small gathering had garnered her attention. Doubtlessly, she had by now noticed that he had taken interest in her apparent interest as well. No reason to be coy about it, then. His gravelly south-German projected easily across the crowded room, its target clear.
"See something interesting?"

Despite knowing exactly who the giant of a man was talking to the woman pointed to herself in disbelief. She spoke to him in his native tongue.
"Who me?"
She stood up and walked toward him slowly. As she stood she pulled a wooden bead bracelet from around her wrist and began nervously playing with it. The thought of coming up with a lie and try to create some elaborate story crossed her mind, but she was horrible at lying and it would seem like she was trying to get away with something.
"The conversation seemed much more interesting over here than just listening to that guy fail at trying to flirt with her."
She motioned to a young man, visibly drunk practically leaning on a girl at the bar. Her answer wasn't a lie, yet it wasn't a complete truth. Any time someone was looking for something that generally meant that it was worth money, or at least worth money to that individual. That is what she was most interested in.

"The conversation seemed much more interesting over here than just listening to that guy fail at trying to flirt with her."
"Did it?" Doran shrugged his massive shoulders. "Guess I'll take your word for it."
He allowed the girl to walk toward him, but his bulk provided a barrier to the table behind him. No one else would be invited to Ede's table unless by Ede herself.

Scarlette took the young girl's silence as permission to keep speaking.
"There is a specific sword that I've got my eye on. Sword of Legends, Sword of Salvation; I've heard it referred to by many names, so I cannot give you a specific term for it," she continued, her voice a bit calmer now. "Of course, I've gotten myself... lost, I could say."
She smoothed a stray lock of hair back into place, and was about to elaborate when she noticed the much larger man addressing someone else. Her mouth thinned into a line; was someone else eavesdropping on them?
"During my travels," she continued her explanation, "I spent many weeks researching, following rumors, and narrowing down leads, until I finally determined where the sword was: a place called Ostrheinsburg. But I was ambushed by... someone... and dropped off in this area."
She sighed, rubbing her shoulder. "I'll be frank. I know nothing about this place, nor do I know how to get to Ostrheinsburg from here. I'm back where I started."
She locked eyes with Ede. "I need to make my way there. If you are willing to help me, I would most certainly make it worth your while."

Though she might not have understood word-for-word, there were some key terms that Ede picked up. At Scarlette's pause, she turned around to see who Doran was speaking to. It was hard to see around him, and Scarlette resumed the conversation, so Ede turned back. Luckily, she was far better listening to the language than formulating responses. Once Scarlette had concluded, she attempted a French response, a nod indicating her approval.
"Ostrheinsburg is German name? Doran could possibly know."
Perhaps they had only just met, but Ede could have never imagined obtaining an ally this quickly. She was eager to expand upon her team.
"But...ambusher is still near? And, why us? I am young. Not warrior."
Once she had ask the questions, a shadow of doubt crept over her enthusiasm.

"Ah, right... Doran could know," she echoed. "...my German isn't the best, but I have been taught, at least somewhat. I could be a sort of mediator."
The idea was a certainly an amusing thought -- a woman who barely spoke German, relaying the messages of a girl who had a basic knowledge of French to a monster of a man that probably couldn't understand a word of anything else.
It brought a slight smile to her face.
"My attacker is of no concern. They are likely far away by now. I didn't see any sign of them when I came to," she said, as she leaned back in her chair. "As for why I'm asking you..."
She glanced at the various others in the room around her, looking displeased. "None of these people would be of any use to me, information-wise. I can't be bothered to deal with drunkards that are as clueless as they are inebriated."
As she focused on Ede again, she spoke a little more confidently. "You won't have to worry about fighting. I'm more than capable of defending myself. But I know nothing about this area, so I'd rather travel with companions than wander aimlessly on my own."
